D. J. Young advises and represents businesses, schools, and individuals, and he litigates in state and federal courts.
Business Law: D. J. Young’s business clients include real estate developers, manufacturers, franchisees, farms, and licensed professionals. He helps them incorporate, buy and sell real estate and equipment, lease, re-zone land, merge into or acquire other companies, and comply with employment laws and other government regulations.
Public School Law: D. J. Young’s school law experience includes careful analysis of statutes and advising on what schools can and should do to comply. He has advised regarding contract non-renewals and terminations, public records laws, special education laws, and interpreting collective bargaining agreements. As a former public school board member, he has unique insight into the legal and practical issues facing Ohio’s public schools.
Federal and State Litigation: D. J. Young has extensive litigation experience, having spent in excess of one-thousand hours in the courtroom representing private clients and the United States of America as a federal prosecutor with the U.S. Department of Justice. And he helps his clients win—in both state and federal courts.
Experience: D. J. Young has advised and represented clients in real estate transactions of every type, and he has prepared wills and trusts for many of his best clients. Early in his legal career D. J. Young worked in the law department at Norfolk Southern Corporation (a highly-regarded Fortune 500 company), and then at one of the nation’s largest law firms, Baker & Hostetler LLP.
Mr. Young enjoys BBQ cooking, playing cards, home-improvement projects, and small-scale organic farming. He lives on eleven acres in Delaware County with his wife, Melissa, and their three children, Andrew, Rebecca, and Julia.
